Writing Essentials and Sports (1) - who, what, why

One key skill in writing is to communicate clearly the "who, what, when, where, how and why". Here's a simple passage I wrote up:

//
Last night, LeBron James scored 42 points and led the Miami Heat to a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center Stadium. He gave a clinical performance, made 18 shots out of 27 attempts and demonstrated why he is still King of the NBA. "We're shooting for another championship run," LeBron said, "So every game counts."
//

A quick analysis:
Who = LeBron James, the main character
What = scored 42 points and led his team to victory
When = last night
Where = Staples Center Stadium
How = made 18 shots out of 27 attempts
Why = the motivation behind his feats is another championship run

Your turn! Write a passage about your favorite athlete or celebrity, and analyze it using this "who, what, when, where, how, why" framework.

Your Passage:

Relevance to Common Core:
ELA-Literacy.RI.3.7 (where, when, why, how)

These skills are critical to writers of all grades and levels.
